The Nourished Writer: Building a Path to a Resilient Writing Life

A WORKSHOP + ONE-ON-ONE COACHING EXPERIENCE (3 INCLUDED SESSIONS) - A $425 value for much less!

Are you tired all the time? Feeling on the edge of burnout?

Does your body ache from sitting hunched over your laptop for hours on end?

Are your bloodwork numbers creeping up as book deadlines loom over you, not leaving any time to take care of yourself?

Have you found yourself wondering, "Wait, wasn't being a writer supposed to be more fun than this?"

Being a writer is a "dream job." It's that type of career that many of us fantasized about when we were kids, making up stories while we lay in bed, creating characters from nothing, conjuring up whole new worlds in the dark. Being a writer seemed downright magical.

So, for those of us who actually reached out and grabbed that dream, it can sometimes be a shock when not every aspect of it is laced with pixie dust. Turns out, writing is hard work--mentally intense and physically taxing in unexpected ways. Writing is deadlines. Writing is a business--with all the complicated things business entails. Writing is sitting too long and forgetting that we have bodies that need proper movement and fuel. If we're not careful, the writing life can start to look less like a dream and more like a nightmare.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Why do I teach this class?

After 15+ years in the business and 25+ published books, I've seen both sides, and I've learned the hard way that if you don't take care of yourself and find balance in your writing life, it can wear you down and burn you out. So, I've created this class because crying under our desks during deadline time, unshowered, eating potato chips and gummy bears, and trembling from overcaffeination should not be the norm.

Wait, is that not standard operating deadline procedure for you? Then maybe you need another class. ;) But for those of you who were like, "Well, yeah, but my snacks of choice are Doritos and Red Bull," then read on...

The term “self-care” has devolved into a marketing pitch for facials and pedicures or weekends away at the spa. That's not going to be what we're talking about here. What I'm talking about in this class is true nourishment. Physical, mental, and emotional/spiritual nourishment. Writers who have depleted themselves trying to keep up with this career and their home life and day jobs and and and need more than a pedicure and a massage to feel good again. We need nourishment in all forms if we’re going to make it long-term in this job (and in life), so that's what I'll be covering in this class.

What We'll Cover:

  • Physical health and the specific challenges for writers (food, movement, ergonomics, sleep, vitamin deficiencies, hormones, etc.)
  • Mental health (the mind-body connection, pressure on writers, post-publication blues, comparison, identity as a writer, losing your reading life/hobbies, struggling with focus, etc.)
  • Handling writing industry stressors (deadlines, contracts, pressure for rapid release, promotions/marketing, bad reviews, etc.)
  • How to set healthy boundaries in your personal and professional life
  • How to create a sustainable, long-term writing career
  • Plus, you'll receive THREE one-on-one coaching sessions with me where we can dig in and personalize a plan for you and set goals (if you're ready to!) to tackle the areas that are giving you the most trouble

Why trust me? Who am I?

  • A New York Times bestselling romance author with 15 years of experience who has experienced (and come out of) burnout and health issues because of a lack of balance
  • A Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach - I'm certified to use the powerful Strengths personality assessment to help people customize their home and work life to be aligned with their Strengths
  • A mindbodygreen Health and Wellness Coach
  • Former therapist with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a B.S. in Psychology

Format:

  • LIVE VIDEO PRESENTATION - I will open the class with a live video and slide presentation (roughly 1.5-2 hours.) This is the full workshop, and there will be time for questions during and at the end. (The live video call will be via the Zoom app/website. The video will be recorded and posted within the class if you can't make it during the live time.)
  • YOUR TOP 5 STRENGTHS - If you have not yet taken the Gallup Strengths test, you will receive a code to take the assessment and will get your Top 5 report
  • THREE ONE-ON-ONE COACHING SESSIONS - This is where the magic can happen! You'll receive links to schedule 3 online coaching sessions with me over the next few months (you choose what works for your schedule).
    • The initial session will be 45 minutes. We will go over your assessments and chat about what areas you'd like to focus on (writing/career, health and wellness, etc.)
    • The next two sessions will be 30-minute sessions where we can see how things are going and adjust as needed or set new goals altogether. This also serves as gentle accountability if you feel that will help you with your goals. (If not, no worries. You get to decide on how much accountability you want.)

What is coaching like?

Coaching is a safe space where we will talk through the things that might be frustrating you in your writing life or with your general health and wellness, and then actively work towards sustainable change or solutions. It’s a collaborative, non-judgmental process where we work together to clarify your goals, navigate challenges, and build lasting habits. Unlike a doctor or therapist, I won’t diagnose and prescribe solutions, but I will help you uncover your own best path forward. You are in the driver's seat.

This is a powerful portion of the class. Please don't skip it. This is what you paid for! ;)

(Note to my fellow introverts: I'm very introvert-friendly. I know one-on-one can feel intimidating, but I promise that I am gentle and will make it comfortable. You don't have to come in knowing what to say. I will guide you through. I've got you!)

The Value:

If you've ever been curious about coaching, this course provides a great entry point and value. Normally, this workshop plus 3 coaching sessions and a Gallup assessment test would cost $425 dollars. But you can get all of it for $279--and if you use the early bird coupon before August 29, you can get an additional $20 off!

(Note: if you choose a payment plan instead of purchasing it all at once, the price is $300, but you can still get $20 off with the early bird coupon.)

Roni Loren
Roni Loren

Roni Loren wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. After earning a B.S. in Psychology and a Master of Social Work from LSU, she counseled teens in a mental health hospital, worked with birthmothers as an adoption coordinator, and did management recruiting in her PJs. But she always returned to writing.

Over the last decade, she has penned more than twenty-five contemporary romances and has experienced both traditional publishing (a lot) and indie publishing (a little.) She also teaches online courses that have helped hundreds of students on their writing journey.

The joy of teaching writers and her experience with how CliftonStrengths enriched her own life led her to become a Gallup-Certified Strengths coach. Her experience with burnout and the toll that this career can take on a writer's health inspired her to become a Health and Wellness coach. As a coach, you can expect her to provide an empathetic ear, a tailored approach…and, yeah, maybe some homework because man, does she love an assignment.

Roni lives in North Texas with her husband, son, and a headstrong Maltipoo named Leonard. If she’s not writing or coaching, you can find her cooking, reading, or rearranging her bookshelves just one more time.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start and finish?
The live lecture will take place on Sunday, SEPTEMBER 7, 2025 at 11AM central. However, you will continue to have access to the course and the video replay afterward. The class will finish when you have completed your three one-on-one coaching sessions, so each person's end date will be different.
How long do I have access to the course?
As long as Roni is on Teachable, you will have access. If she leaves the platform, she will contact students and allow them to download what they need from the class ahead of time.
What if I can't make the live lecture?
The workshop will be recorded and can be watched later. If you have questions and weren't able to ask in the live session, there will be space in the class to post your questions or you can ask them in your coaching sessions.
Is coaching like therapy?
No. Though my background is in mental health counseling, this class and coaching are not meant to address serious mental health issues. Those issues should be handled with a licensed therapist or doctor. Coaching is more tactical and future-focused.
Will my coaching sessions expire?
Yes. You will have 6 months to use them from the start of class.
Can I just take the class and not do the coaching?
There is no discounted version for class-only. The magic of this class will be in implementing what you learn through creating a customized plan in your coaching sessions and then having the ongoing support of a coach for multiple sessions.
What if I took the beta version of this course? How much is different?
If you did the beta version in Jan. 2024, you will receive a discount code in your email. This new version of the class is about 60-70% different than the beta version. The beta version also didn't include coaching. So this class will be a different experience!
What days are coaching appointments available?
Appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be scheduled through Calendly. I generally offer coaching slots Tuesday-Friday and on Sundays. I live in the central time zone, so if you are international, please be aware that there may be limited availability at times that will work for you.

Reserve your spot! Seats are limited to 20 students because of the personalized coaching approach.

Can't make it this time or are interested in one of my other classes? Please sign up for the workshop mailing list to be the first to hear about new classes and to get exclusive discount codes!
